Ten Important Lessons From Election 2010

With the 2010 midterm elections and the two year campaign that preceded them in the national rear-view mirror, we have at least a few moments before the 2012 campaign begins to reflect on lessons learned (or lessons that should have been learned) over the last 24 hours.
1. Constantly referring to the Republicans as 'the party of no' was great...for the Republicans. The huge gains that have given the GOP control of the US House of Representatives prove that the vast majority of Americans believe that "no" is the right answer if the question is "Do you support the Obama agenda?"

Call it buyer's remorse or just growing up fast in the economically painful Age of Obama. Fewer young voters are identifying themselves now as Democrats than just 2 years ago. While college students and young Americans new to the work force played a large part in the election of President Barack Obama, their attachment to the Democratic Party has weakened considerably since he took office.

If abracadabra didn't work, try shazam. President Obama keeps talking and talking in favor of his version of health care reform seeming to believe that if he just stumbles onto the right word or gesture he will magically convince the American people (and enough Democrats in Congress) that the legislation they have opposed for a year is suddenly a good thing.
