Scathing New Ad In Connecticut Senate Race
By Carole on Oct 4, 2010
With less than a month until Election Day and hours before their first debate, Connecticut's Republican candidate for the US Senate Linda McMahon's campaign has released a scathing new ad attacking her Democratic opponent Richard Blumenthal's lies about serving in Vietnam. While this issue may be old news to political junkies who were paying attention when the story first broke in May, video in the new ad of Mr. Blumenthal claiming he served in Vietnam when the truth is he did not will most likely be seen for the first time by many Connecticut voters.
The Blumenthal Effect
By Carole on May 27, 2010
Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal's lead over his most likely Republican opponent Linda McMahon has dropped 8 points since his lies about serving "in Vietnam" were exposed. But that means he still has a considerable 25 point lead (56%-31%) according to the latest poll. (source) This strong support for a man who repeatedly traded on the service of others to enhance his own political resume is disturbing.
Same Spin, Different Delivery Method For Blumenthal
By Carole on May 25, 2010
Yesterday Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal's e-mailed claim that he had not been "clear or precise" about his military service, that he had made mistakes and was sorry did not ring true. But rather than finally admit he lied and was sorry for his lie, Mr. Blumenthal decided it was the method with which he delivered his spin that was the problem.
Blumenthal Misspeaks His Way Through An Apology
By Carole on May 24, 2010
Caught lying about his Vietnam era service (he claimed to have served "in Vietnam" when he did not), Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal has now misspoken his way through an alleged apology. Since the story first broke, Mr. Blumenthal has claimed he misspoke, that there were "misplaced words" and that he regretted what happened but was still being pressured from veterans groups, the media and political foes to apologize for his deception. His latest statement still doesn't ring true.
More Of Blumenthal's Vietnam Lies
By Carole on May 20, 2010
The harder Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal tries to spin his way out of trouble, the further down he seems to screw himself into the ground. In the wake of his being exposed for lying about his military service "in Vietnam", no explanation he gives seems to be working for him.
