One Nation Underwhelmed
By Carole on Oct 3, 2010
If I paid dues to any of the organizations involved in yesterday's 'One Nation Working Together' rally, I'd be demanding a refund or at least a transportation/lodging/clothing/food voucher of equal value to what the attendees received. Chartered busses, lodging, t-shirts, boxed lunches, even pre-printed signs all provided by participating unions to those willing to spend a small part of a beautiful autumn day at the National Mall. And what did the unions get in return for their sizeable investment? Humiliated.
Obama Keeps Talking But Won't Say Anything
By Carole on Sep 13, 2009
A prime time address on Wednesday, a rally in the midwest Saturday and yet another 60 Minutes interview tonight; it seems as if President Obama is doing nothing but talking. Of course it's all about his health care reform legislation (and he's not saying anything new on that). One would think that's the only issue we're facing; the only problem that he needs to address. It's not.
Obama Leaves Supporters To Defend His Mistake
By Carole on Sep 7, 2009
Both sides of the ideological spectrum in this country have their fringe elements; their crackpots, their racists, those who invite ridicule. On the right we have people like the "birthers" - those who, despite plenty of evidence to the contrary, cling to the false belief that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. We right-leaning folks who do not wear tin foil hats can, along with everyone else, comfortably dismiss these loons. They are conspiracy theorist wackos who do not represent mainstream conservative America. But pity the poor liberals whose fringe crackpot racists are actual members of the administration; people chosen specifically by the man they elected President of the United States.
Van Jones Resigns Under Cover Of Darkness
By Carole on Sep 6, 2009
Shortly after midnight Sunday morning the White House announced that President Obama's adviser Van Jones had resigned amid controversy over past inflammatory statements. (source) Those inflammatory statements involve racist commentaries, profanity laced attacks on Republicans and signing a petition which asked for congressional hearings into whether high-level government officers had allowed the 9/11 attacks to occur. It's no shock Jones has resigned - the president could no longer stand the scrutiny he was bringing to his administration. And it's certainly no surprise that the announcement was made shortly after midnight on the Sunday of the holiday weekend.
