While most of the American people are trying to figure out how to afford even a scaled-down holiday season, the Democrats in Congress continue to spend the taxpayers' money like...well...Democrats. They got the 60 Senate votes they needed to prevent a Republican filibuster and are about to pass a $1.1 trillion spending bill that rewards most federal agencies with generous budget increases.

The latest cost estimate for the Senate healthcare reform bill is $1.6 trillion. (source) For most of us whose real-world fiscal familiarity stops somewhere in the hundreds of thousands, the $757 billion stimulus bill was tough enough to wrap our minds around. $1.6 trillion? How are we supposed to know if we're getting a good deal on something when we can't even comprehend the cost?
Debt We Can Believe In!

The deficit chart currently shown today at drudgereport.com is what I've been screaming about now for the last few weeks. The 1.75T deficit is a conservative figure though I think -- Either way, at 2T they've done as much damage to our debt within SIX WEEKS as the Bush administration did in oh, about five years!
