As the final days of the fight over Obamacare tick by, there is no doubt that we are living in historic times. Those on both sides of the issue agree that if the current bill passes, it would affect the lives of virtually all Americans and could be just the beginning of more radical change. But pass or not, the battle over this legislation has stimulated a change in many of the American people themselves.
Obama Promised Transparency And Delivers Infomercials

On September 9 President Barack Obama will deliver a prime time health care address to a joint session of Congress. Some in the media have suggested the president will provide more specifics about his vision for health care. Others believe he is hoping his personal charisma will sway the American people to his way of thinking despite poll numbers to the contrary. Regardless of his motives, I doubt the speech will do anything for the cause of health care reform.
Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome

In 2003 a political phenomenon emerged known as Bush Derangement Syndrome or BDS. The term was coined by conservative columnist and psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer who defined it as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency - nay - the very existence of George W. Bush." (source) Many expected that the next political syndrome to take hold would be one similar to BDS but affecting those who oppose the new president. Instead, most of the same people who suffered from BDS have been stricken with the even more dangerous Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome (ODDS). Apparently it is not the shift of power that results in derangement but rather the susceptibility of the same group of people, mainly liberal Democrats, to these types of syndromes.
