An Unpleasant Recess Ahead For Democrats
By Carole on Mar 27, 2010
Congress may be taking the next two weeks off for their Easter recess, but most who supported the hugely unpopular and obscenely expensive new law known as Obamacare will have plenty to do during their time off. Instead of the usual fundraising and campaign organizing, they will be trying to justify how they ignored their own constituents and helped the Obama machine enact a government takeover of health care.
Will Obama & Company Start Listening Now?
By Carole on Jan 20, 2010
By now everyone who pays attention to such things knows Republican Scott Brown has won the special election in Massachusetts. He will take the seat formerly held by the late Senator Ted Kennedy thereby ending the 60 vote stranglehold Democrats had on that legislative body. What will happen next regarding health care reform, cap & trade and other items on the Obama agenda remains to be seen. There are ways the no longer super yet still majority party can get around a minority filibuster and the will of the American people but they risk the ire of voters by doing so.
Is The Media Ready To Start Working Again?
By Carole on Aug 25, 2009
The Congressional recess, Obama family vacation and general lull in the political news cycle that August brings is providing a natural break for the US media. Just like summer vacation can mark the end a student slacking their way through 7th grade and beginning the 8th with a renewed drive to succeed, there is an opportunity here for a fresh start; for reporters to wake up from the daze they've been in since the November election and actually get back to doing their jobs.
Have We Learned From Our Last Obama Mistake?
By Carole on Aug 15, 2009
Last November the majority of American voters were sucked in by the Obama Campaign Machine. We the American people saw the young, energetic candidate promising hope and change at every opportunity. We watched him take off his jacket, roll up his sleeves and make all sorts of promises without giving any details of how he would keep those promises. He offered platitudes to the gullible while his team tossed baseless accusations at anyone who dared question him. And it worked. He won the election. Now we will see if we the American people have learned from our mistake.
Toomey Leads Specter By 12
By Carole on Aug 13, 2009
He was up 11% in the polls just two months ago but now Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pennsylvania) is trailing Republican Pat Toomey 48-36%. Senator Specter is still fighting off a Democratic challenger for his party's nomination in the 2010 election but even if he lost that, Mr. Toomey is way ahead of that other Democratic nominee (Congressman Joe Sestak) 43-35% according to the same poll.
