Beginning To Correct The Obama Mistake
By Carole on Jan 19, 2010 | Comment »
The recent Washington Post headline says it all "Poll shows growing disappointment, polarization over Obama's performance". Exactly one year after he took office, the majority of the American people say President Obama is not delivering on his major campaign promises and over a third say he is falling short of their expectations. (source) This is not a sign of a fickle electorate. This is what happens when millions of people are conned by someone who has no idea how to do the job he has sworn to do.
Criticism Of Obama vs Criticism Of Bush

In his address to the nation on Thursday in which he outlined his administration's latest approach to terrorism, President Obama said, "Instead of giving into cynicism and division, let's move forward with the confidence and optimism and unity that defines us as a people. For now is not a time for partisanship, it's a time for citizenship. A time to come together and work together." Setting aside the hypocrisy of those words being spoken by one of the harshest and most partisan critics of the Bush administration's prosecution of the War on Terror, let's look at the difference between the left's "cynicism and division" and the right's.
Obama May Be Talking The Talk

President Obama addressed the nation again Thursday regarding the Christmas Day terrorist attack on Flight 253. He made the speech under the guise that he had new information to share: supposedly the results of reviews and announcements of new strategies. Of course there was no such new information. As with every public statement (or lack thereof) since the attack occurred, he just keeps trying new rhetoric in a desperate struggle to hopefully stumble on the right approach. He came close today with the following:
Obama's Unfocused Response To Terrorism

Since the attempted Christmas Day terrorist attack on Flight 253, there has been much discussion of the Obama administration's reaction and what signals it's sending. The original tactic of releasing statements from various spokespeople was supposed to minimize the affect the attempt had on the country. Supposedly if the president didn't speak of it directly, then it didn't hurt/scare/concern the American people. Take two had Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano assuring the world that the system worked. Take three had her then backpedaling a day later to admit that the system did not work.
Media Provides Obama With Coverage And Excuses

President Obama finally made a public statement about the terrorist attack on Flight 253 that occurred on Christmas Day. It was not remarkable in its content including statements such as "This was a serious reminder of the dangers that we face and the nature of those who threaten our homeland" and "We will not rest until we find all who were involved and hold them accountable". (See video of the president's statement here.) What was interesting was the timing of the statement coming three days after the actual event and only after much criticism of the president's silence on the matter. Perhaps most interesting of all was the way some in the liberal media combined objective news reporting with custom made excuses for Mr. Obama's latest misstep.
