Congressional Republicans Won't Take Obama's Bait
By Carole on Sep 10, 2011
First, President Barack Obama tried to characterize his political opposition as people more concerned with politics than country. Neither a new strategy nor one that hasn't worked before for other desperate candidates, but then he made the mistake of believing his own lies. The president's speech on Thursday night was tailored to bait the kind of politicians he claimed House Republicans are. But since they're not, Mr. Obama is left having to actually participate in solving the country's problems instead of engaging in the kind of negative political campaigning he prefers.
Obama's Not Getting The Message
By Carole on Sep 5, 2011
President Barack Obama made a speech today that was a preview of a speech he'll make on Thursday that, from all indications, will be a repeat of the same speech he's made many times before. Everyone who has paid even the slightest bit of attention has already heard his message for more government spending, more government borrowing and more government regulations. Obviously he is the one not getting the message that more speeches calling for more government is not what's needed and Thursday night may provide the next best opportunity to send it.
A Speech Is A Speech Not A Plan
By Carole on Aug 17, 2011
You can tell it's a slow summer news day when the top story is that President Barack Obama is going to make a speech. Even more redundant and meaningless, his speech is going to focus on jobs and won't occur until next month. According to a senior administration official, the speech will lay out new ideas for job growth and helping the poor and middle class. But to quote a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), "We really don’t need another speech - just a plan, like, on paper."
Obama Delivers More Of The Same
By Carole on Aug 8, 2011
In a speech that was more of his usual blaming, shaming and vaguely claiming he'll start leading soon; President Barack Obama took to the podium today to address the downgrade in our nation's credit rating. He started, almost an hour late, with a not-so-veiled swipe at his political opponents claiming the loss of our triple-A rating was caused by a lack of faith in our political system's "ability to act" and then he offered such nonsensical blather as "No matter what some agency may say, we've always been and always will be a triple-A country."
A Preview Of Obama's Address On Iraq
By Carole on Aug 22, 2010
According to senior White House sources, President Barack Obama will be making a speech at the end of August regarding the War in Iraq. (source) The address is certainly expected as US combat forces are departing the country and all combat troops are expected to be out by August 31. What remains unknown is how this president will frame the war he consistently opposed and its outcome in that speech.
