Yesterday Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said "The Iranian nation, with its unity and God's grace, will punch the arrogance [Western powers] on the 22nd of Bahman [Feb. 11] in a way that will leave them stunned," (source) Today, despite the objections of the US and its allies, Iran began enriching uranium to a higher level bringing the Islamic republic closer to having nuclear weapons. Western officials revealed today that Iran has a heavily guarded, underground uranium enrichment facility in the arid mountains near the holy city of Qom that will be able to produce the payload for atomic warheads. Through intelligence developed by U.S., French and British agencies the existence of this facility has been known but Iran kept the facility hidden from the IAEA until revealing it in a letter to the agency on Monday.
