There's more news than just a new tax plan coming out of Rick Perry's presidential campaign this week. In addition to his highly anticipated flat tax proposal to be announced tomorrow, the Texas governor and former front runner in the GOP presidential sweepstakes is shaking up his campaign staff big time.

After his win today in Florida's Presidency 5 straw poll, former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain declared, "This is a sign of our growing momentum and my candidacy that cannot be ignored." With all due respect to Mr. Cain, it is more likely a sign that none of the candidates have been able to gain any lasting momentum and there is still no clear frontrunner whose message, skills and record are good enough for primary voters.

The candidates in last night's Republican presidential debate failed to deliver again. The two hour event included the same old stump speech sound bytes, lots of defensive posturing and attempted jabs at each other most of which missed their marks. The allegedly conservative front runner claimed anyone against giving illegal immigrants tuition breaks is heartless, the moderate that's currently running second is still trying to defend his state health care mandate and the most memorable moment of the night came from a candidate few have even heard of.

David Axelrod, President Barack Obama's top political adviser, took to the airwaves this morning and claimed that none of last night's participants in the GOP presidential debate offered ideas on how to create jobs. Granted, none of them waved a stack of papers containing an unaffordable stimulus plan in front of the cameras, but all of them brought reality to the discussion by affirming that government does not create jobs it can only destroy them. That's a fact that the president and his cronies desperately hope the majority of the voting public doesn't understand.

Texas Governor Rick Perry provided a glimpse of the kind of president he might be when he skipped the chance to participate in a nationally televised political forum to do his job. Mr. Perry was slated to appear with other GOP presidential contenders at Senator Jim DeMint's (R-South Carolina) Palmetto Freedom Forum on Labor Day, but instead he rushed back to work as a roaring wildfire raced across Central Texas.
