Last night's GOP presidential debate was gaffe-free leaving a frustrated mainstream media and Republican primary voters to focus on the candidates' ideas and positions on issues. With foreign policy and national security as the theme, expectations were highest for those with federal government experience but it was Texas Governor Rick Perry who had the most memorable moments of the night and, unlike in previous debates, they were memorable for all the right reasons.

Mrs. Gloria Cain, the candidate's wife of over 40 years, has cancelled a scheduled appearance on Friday night's edition of On the Record With Greta Van Susteren.

Texas Governor and GOP presidential contender Rick Perry is trying to turn his poor performances in recent debates into an asset with a new campaign ad in Iowa. The money line: "If you're looking for a slick politician or a guy with great teleprompter skills, we already have that and he's destroying our economy. I'm a doer not a talker." With that blistering yet incredibly accurate depiction of President Barack Obama, Mr. Perry may have found the perfect way to redeem himself with the party's first voters.

According to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, 25% of Republican primary voters currently favor Businessman Herman Cain as the potential GOP presidential nominee, 21% prefer former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and the rest of the field is at 10% or less. But the real headline is that 80% of respondents say they have yet to make up their minds.
