It's Time To Occupy Reality
By Carole on Oct 19, 2011
The Occupy Wall Street protesters claim to be fighting back against "the role of Wall Street in creating the economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in nearly a century." Agree or not, it may sound like a noble cause until you read something like this: "Hundreds of grimy protesters laying siege to Wall Street and stuffed into the now-smelly Zuccotti Park dine each night on gourmet meals prepared by a former hotel chef using only the finest organic ingredients." It's time these crusaders for the poor and working class stop play-acting and start doing some work. It's time to Occupy Reality.
One Nation Underwhelmed
By Carole on Oct 3, 2010
If I paid dues to any of the organizations involved in yesterday's 'One Nation Working Together' rally, I'd be demanding a refund or at least a transportation/lodging/clothing/food voucher of equal value to what the attendees received. Chartered busses, lodging, t-shirts, boxed lunches, even pre-printed signs all provided by participating unions to those willing to spend a small part of a beautiful autumn day at the National Mall. And what did the unions get in return for their sizeable investment? Humiliated.
Greene It Will Be For The Dems In SC
By Carole on Jun 18, 2010
Alvin Greene, the 32-year-old unemployed Army veteran currently living in his parents' basement and facing a felony obscenity charge will represent the Democratic party in South Carolina's senatorial election against incumbent Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina). There was some doubt after the political unknown won his party's primary last week but a committee of state Democrats rejected a protest by primary loser, former state legislator and judge Vic Rawl clearing the way for Mr. Greene to move forward with his campaign.
Are Students Losing To Educators' Politics?
By Carole on May 12, 2010
The girls basketball team of Illinois' Highland Park High School will not be playing in a tournament in Arizona to protest that state's new immigration law. It was not the team members nor their parents who made that decision, it was District 113 Assistant Superintendent Suzan Hebson who said the trip "would not be aligned with our beliefs and values." Just whose beliefs and values would that be?
Obama Hides The Facts Behind His Style
By Carole on Apr 17, 2010
At a recent Democratic Party fundraiser, President Barack Obama claimed to have cut taxes and therefore was "amused over the last couple of days where people have been having these rallies about taxes." He added, "You would think they would be saying thank you." Instantly the video was playing everywhere and everyone was horrified or thrilled (depending on their political persuasion) at the president's mocking tone and obvious contempt for the Tea Party protesters. As usual with Mr. Obama, the truth is intentionally lost in his rhetoric and his polarizing brand of "charm".
