First there were emerging details (and price tags) from First Lady Michelle Obama's trip to Spain. Then the inside scoop of President Obama's birthday celebration in Chicago with gal-pal Oprah Winfrey and others. Now we hear how the president enjoyed a weekend of golfing with friends and playing basketball with current and former pro athletes. In an effort to legitimize using his position to indulge in childlike fantasies, the basketball game was played in front of a group of US troops injured in action.

When it comes to judging President Obama's fist year in office, the American people have a much different view than the president himself. In an interview with his loyal supporter Oprah Winfrey, Mr. Obama gives himself a "good, solid B-plus." Meanwhile in the latest poll, only 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. (source)

Sarah Palin's Friday announcement that she will be resigning as Alaska's Governor has prompted much speculation about what her next political move will be. The general consensus among the numerous pundits is that she is freeing herself of the responsibilities of running her state so she can concentrate full time on national issues and raising the ridiculous amount of money necessary for a presidential run in 2012. But along with all the political speculation is the idea that her next step might not be exactly political.
