Obama Speech Minimizes Iranian Oppression
By Carole on Jan 28, 2010
Somewhere in the middle of President Obama's 7,000-plus word ramble last night, wedged between the same old worthless promises and the obvious disdain for anyone (politician or average citizen) who dares to oppose him, he mentioned Iran three times. Twice while discussing his useless diplomatic efforts and offering another empty threat regarding that country's nuclear aspirations:
Azadi! Azadi!
By Carole on Jul 18, 2009
Tens of thousands of Iranian citizens continue to risk all by demanding freedom and fairness from their oppressive government. Even as that government used tear gas on the crowds and took away dozens to who knows where, the protesters held their ground chanting "azadi, azadi" (Persian for "freedom") during a speech by former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. Rafsanjani denounced the government crackdown on protests and called for the release of the hundreds detained. (source)
Was That The Last Fourth Of July?
By Carole on Jul 5, 2009
There have been other Independence Days in my lifetime when times were tough, when the economy was bad, the job market was tight and people were hurting. But the big difference between those years and this one is that then we knew that things would be better by the time the next Fourth of July rolled around. This year, this really bad year, could be a year we look back at longingly for this could be the last year the country is the America our founders envisioned on that Fourth of July 233 years ago.
It's Time For Commitment Not Plausible Deniability

As we watch the people of Iran protest against their ruthless and often lethal government, I'm thinking about two statements by two US presidents:
"All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: the United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you." President George W. Bush, January 2005 (source)
North Korea: Muster Behind The Bluster
By Chris on May 28, 2009
Following a second nuclear weapon test, restarting its weapons-grade nuclear plant in Yongbyon, and test firing multiple missiles; the world has once again focused its attention on North Korea.
An official member of the "Axis of Evil", North Korea is perhaps the last Soviet-style communist regime still in existence. In the last fifteen years, the "dear leader" Kim Jung-Il has done little for his countrymen. Starvation, mandatory labor, poverty, forced abortions and power shortages are just a handful of the issues that the DPRK currently has to contend with.
