In Sally Quinn's Washington Post column this week is a line about President Obama's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel: "Emanuel is said to have told people that the chief-of-staff role is an 18-month job and that he is considering a run for mayor of Chicago." (source) Since Mr. Emanuel is the man the New York Times called "the principal author of Mr. Obama's do-everything-at-once strategy," he might be on his way to the windy city even sooner as the do-everything-at-once-strategy has become the do-everything-wrong strategy, specifically:

When it comes to judging President Obama's fist year in office, the American people have a much different view than the president himself. In an interview with his loyal supporter Oprah Winfrey, Mr. Obama gives himself a "good, solid B-plus." Meanwhile in the latest poll, only 44% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. (source)

When former president Bill Clinton completed his "private mission" to North Korea to gain the release of two American journalists, many wondered what concessions were made to the communist regime in exchange for their freedom. Some suggested the fact that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il got a visit from and a photo opportunity with a former US president was enough of a quid pro quo but others have been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe it has.
Clinton Heading To North Korea To Negotiate Reporters' Release

If you're thinking Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, think again. It's former President Bill Clinton who, according to a South Korean news agency is on his way to Pyongyang to negotiate the release of two detained American journalists. (source) The female journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, have been held by North Korean authorities since March 17. They were convicted in June of illegally entering North Korea and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor.
