According to Senator John Kerry (D-Massachusetts), the reason his fellow Democrats are facing what could be unprecedented losses in the upcoming mid-term elections is that the majority of voters are uninformed, easily swayed idiots. He'd be right if he were referring to the elections of 2008 but unfortunately for him and his party, it's 2010.

According to a new Gallup poll, Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents are much more enthusiastic about voting in the upcoming mid-term elections than they have been in previous years while Democrats' enthusiasm has dwindled to a new low by comparison. But rather than trying to improve the product they're trying to sell, the Democratic Party has decided to respond the way they always do - throw money at the problem.

In the race to replace the late Congressman John Murtha, businessman Tim Burns (R) leads former Murtha aide Mark Critz (D) by just one point (48% to 47%) in what will probably be the last major poll of the campaign. (source) Leaping into the spotlight of this special election is former President Bill Clinton who stopped by to tell all those bitter Pennsylvanians clinging to their guns and religion that the reason the race is close is that "times are tough and things are all up in the air and people are disoriented."

Mid-term election season is in full swing and there are at least three races that have both strategic and symbolic significance for the Obama administration. A special Congressional election in Hawaii along with Senate races in Delaware and Illinois have the Obama/Biden home team trailing in the polls and at risk of suffering embarrassing defeats.
