Blumenthal Gives McMahon An Assist
By Carole on Oct 9, 2010
Producing an effective campaign ad usually takes lots of time and creativity, but sometimes a political opponent will do the heavy lifting for you. That was the case this week in Connecticut's US Senate race between Republican Linda McMahon and Democrat Richard Blumenthal. The latest ad from the McMahon camp shows a clip of last Thursday's debate in which Mr. Blumenthal pitifully tries to answer the very simple question, "How do you create a job?"

With less than a month until Election Day and hours before their first debate, Connecticut's Republican candidate for the US Senate Linda McMahon's campaign has released a scathing new ad attacking her Democratic opponent Richard Blumenthal's lies about serving in Vietnam. While this issue may be old news to political junkies who were paying attention when the story first broke in May, video in the new ad of Mr. Blumenthal claiming he served in Vietnam when the truth is he did not will most likely be seen for the first time by many Connecticut voters.

On January 7, the day after he entered the US Senate race, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D) proudly stated, "I've never taken PAC money, and I have rejected all special interest money." Now that he has accepted almost half a million dollars from Political Action Committees and special interest groups, his Republican opponent Linda McMahon has released a new ad asking, "How can he fight special interests if they're paying for his campaign?"
Connecticut Senate Race Is Heating Up

If you thought the Connecticut senate race was all over when the flack over state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (D) lying about his military service died down, think again. According to the latest poll, Republican Linda McMahon is just 10 points behind Mr. Blumenthal (50% - 40%) and while that may seem like a pretty substantial lead for the Democrat, it has shrunk by 9 points in just 3 weeks.
The Blumenthal Effect
By Carole on May 27, 2010
Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal's lead over his most likely Republican opponent Linda McMahon has dropped 8 points since his lies about serving "in Vietnam" were exposed. But that means he still has a considerable 25 point lead (56%-31%) according to the latest poll. (source) This strong support for a man who repeatedly traded on the service of others to enhance his own political resume is disturbing.
