The Blumenthal Effect
By Carole on May 27, 2010
Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal's lead over his most likely Republican opponent Linda McMahon has dropped 8 points since his lies about serving "in Vietnam" were exposed. But that means he still has a considerable 25 point lead (56%-31%) according to the latest poll. (source) This strong support for a man who repeatedly traded on the service of others to enhance his own political resume is disturbing.
Same Spin, Different Delivery Method For Blumenthal
By Carole on May 25, 2010
Yesterday Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal's e-mailed claim that he had not been "clear or precise" about his military service, that he had made mistakes and was sorry did not ring true. But rather than finally admit he lied and was sorry for his lie, Mr. Blumenthal decided it was the method with which he delivered his spin that was the problem.
Blumenthal Misspeaks His Way Through An Apology
By Carole on May 24, 2010
Caught lying about his Vietnam era service (he claimed to have served "in Vietnam" when he did not), Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal has now misspoken his way through an alleged apology. Since the story first broke, Mr. Blumenthal has claimed he misspoke, that there were "misplaced words" and that he regretted what happened but was still being pressured from veterans groups, the media and political foes to apologize for his deception. His latest statement still doesn't ring true.
Blumenthal Tries To Defend His "Misplaced Words"
By Carole on May 18, 2010
With his lie about serving in Vietnam exposed, Connecticut Attorney General and Democratic Senate Candidate Richard Blumenthal went into major damage control mode today trying to explain why he has claimed he "served in Vietnam" when he did not. In a press conference not-so-coincidentally held at a Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, Mr. Blumenthal surrounded himself with men who actually served in Vietnam, invoked his own son who is currently serving in the Marines and then tried to minimize his lie by stating, "Now on a few occasions, I have misspoken about my service and I regret that and I take full responsibility. But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to our country."
Obama's Supreme Lie

Campaign Finance. Are there any two words that, when joined together, become a more mind-numbingly boring concept? Combine the half-truths, spin and partisan attacks of a campaign with an over-legislated, over-regulated form of economics and you're sure to discourage all but the most motivated (or caffeine addicted) reader from getting past the first sentence. Luckily the latest news on the issue can be explained succinctly and anyone who is not blinded by Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome will be able to quickly follow what has already happened and what should happen next.
