We barely raise an eyebrow when our elected officials (or those trying to become elected officials) have affairs...or children out of wedlock...or encounters in public restrooms. Why would we care if a late-night talk show host (who has garnered fame and fortune making jokes about affairs, children out of wedlock and encounters in public restrooms) had sex with employees before he was married? While our president was yukking it up on Letterman, Iran's president said Monday that he is proud of his recent statements questioning whether the Holocaust was "a real event" and calling it a pretext used by Jews to trick the West into backing the creation of Israel. (source) Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be speaking Wednesday to the U.N. General Assembly and in less than two weeks Iran will enter key negotiations with the United States and others seeking concessions on Iran's nuclear program. Meanwhile President Obama accepted a heart shaped potato from an audience member at a Late Show taping.

I'm sure everyone's heard the "joke" David Letterman told last week about a 33 year old professional baseball player and the 14 year old daughter of Governor Sarah Palin. During the taping of his show on Monday, Letterman finally acquiesced to public pressure and apologized for the joke (as opposed to the weak explanations he tried to peddle in the immediate aftermath).
