Obama Tries To Export His Failed Leadership

According to a new CNN poll, more than 80 percent of Americans believe that the US economy is in poor shape after two and a half years of President Barack Obama's leadership and 50 percent say that another Great Depression is likely to occur in the next year. The latest economic indicators (most importantly unemployment and manufacturing reports) and the largest point drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average in almost a year seem to back up those opinions. But President Obama, not content to simply endanger the US economy with his obscene levels of government spending, is trying to export his failed brand of economic leadership to other nations.

This weekend's G-20 summit included many world leaders...and President Barack Obama. The American president has voluntarily relinquished his leader status, at least on economic matters, by clinging to the liberal tax and spend, big government model that has failed or is failing in virtually every country that has tried it.

Portugal is desperately trying to learn from their own and Greece's mistakes. Portuguese Finance Minister Fernando Teixeira dos Santos has just announced new austerity measures which will hopefully convince financial markets and other European Union countries that Portugal has its finances in order. But while Portugal works to avoid a debt crisis like the one Greece currently faces, President Obama continues to push the United States toward one.
