If the midterm elections were held today, Republican Meg Whitman would be the next Governor of California and Republican Carly Fiorina would be the state's next senator. According to a new CBS poll, Ms. Fiorina leads incumbent Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) by a slim but measurable two point margin and Ms. Whitman's lead over State Attorney General Jerry Brown (D) has grown to seven points with 46% of likely voters supporting her and only 39% supporting Mr. Brown. Obama Snubs Arizona Governor

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (R) will be in Washington DC this week and has asked for a meeting with President Barack Obama and his Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to discuss border security and immigration. While the president and his cronies have spent the last few weeks trying to score political points by attacking Arizona's right to protect itself, Mr. Obama claims he just can't find the time to discuss the issue with the governor.
NJ Court Preserves Special Treatment For Unions

On his first full day in office, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) issued an executive order limiting political donations by labor unions that have public contracts. The order meant unions would be subject to the same limitations as "business entities" such as law and engineering firms that have state contracts worth more than $17,500. Yesterday a state appeals court decided it was perfectly fine to keep the playing field uneven.
'Don't Know' Leads Democrats In Pennsylvania Primary

In two and a half months the voters of Pennsylvania will decide who will be the Democratic and Republican nominees for Governor of their state. According to a new poll, State Attorney General Tom Corbett has a 43% to 5% lead over State Representative Sam Rohrer for the Republican nomination. On the other side, 'Don't know' leads the field for the Democratic nomination at 59%.
Daniels Sure Sounds Like A 2012 Contender

Another big political story is brewing in Indiana. Last week's decision by Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) not to seek re-election shook up the already shaky Democrats in Washington; putting at risk one of the precious Senate seats they believed they could hold in November. Now Mitch Daniels, the extremely popular Republican Governor of the Hoosier state says he is "open to the idea" of a presidential run in 2012. (source)
