Now Obama Seeks Common Ground?
By Carole on Oct 30, 2010
In his weekly radio address today, President Barack Obama claimed "it's the fundamental responsibility of all who hold elective office to seek out common ground." Then he complained about comments by some of his political opponents and said "we need to put this kind of partisanship aside - win, lose, or draw." This from the man who, just days after his inauguration, responded to Republican concerns over his planned explosion of government spending with the words "I won."
Obama Plays The Xenophobia Card
By Carole on Oct 10, 2010
The race card hasn't worked and the crazy card hasn't worked. Three Candidates Can Sink The Lame Duck
By Carole on Oct 4, 2010
If the predicted tidal wave of Republican victories takes place on November 2, there will still be two months between the elections and the swearing in of new lawmakers during which the current Congress can and most likely will try to push through more unpopular and unaffordable legislation. Representative Tom Price (R-Georgia) offered a resolution in July that would have cancelled that so-called lame duck session, calling for Congress not to assemble on or between November 2, 2010 and January 3, 2011 except in the case of an emergency requiring immediate action. It cites reasons including the 111th Congress' loss of the public's trust "by engaging in unprecedented political procedures to advance a partisan agenda." Not surprisingly, Democrats defeated that resolution.
The Unspoken Promise Obama Has Kept
By Carole on Mar 9, 2010
If abracadabra didn't work, try shazam. President Obama keeps talking and talking in favor of his version of health care reform seeming to believe that if he just stumbles onto the right word or gesture he will magically convince the American people (and enough Democrats in Congress) that the legislation they have opposed for a year is suddenly a good thing.
