Alvin Greene, the 32-year-old unemployed Army veteran currently living in his parents' basement and facing a felony obscenity charge will represent the Democratic party in South Carolina's senatorial election against incumbent Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina). There was some doubt after the political unknown won his party's primary last week but a committee of state Democrats rejected a protest by primary loser, former state legislator and judge Vic Rawl clearing the way for Mr. Greene to move forward with his campaign.

Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) easily won his Republican primary on Tuesday and his Democratic opponent in November's general election will be someone virtually no one has ever heard of.
Competeing for the Democratic nomination were Vic Rawl and Alvin Greene. Mr. Rawl, a 64-year-old former judge and state legislator, had the backing of the local Democratic establishment, raised over $230,000 for his campaign and was so sure of a primary victory that he had a fundraising event scheduled for Thursday. Mr. Greene, a 32-year-old unemployed military veteran raised no money during the campaign and had no signs or website. Mr. Greene defeated Mr. Rawl by a 16 point margin. (source)

There are lots of well known facts about the Easter Bunny. For instance, we know it was in Germany that the Easter Bunny (originally the Easter Hare) was first associated with the holiday. Less well known is the political affiliation of the Easter Bunny but we do have three clear signs that he is most likely a Democrat:

Another big political story is brewing in Indiana. Last week's decision by Senator Evan Bayh (D-Indiana) not to seek re-election shook up the already shaky Democrats in Washington; putting at risk one of the precious Senate seats they believed they could hold in November. Now Mitch Daniels, the extremely popular Republican Governor of the Hoosier state says he is "open to the idea" of a presidential run in 2012. (source)
