What The Debt Deal Proves
By Carole on Aug 1, 2011
Ordinarily when both sides in a negotiation are unhappy with the outcome, it means a compromise has been achieved. But the 11th hour debt deal reached between Congressional leaders is far from a compromise. It is a resounding defeat for President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats and it is proof that Republicans cannot achieve significant victory until after November of 2012.
Democrats' Debt Case Keeps Crumbling
By Carole on Jul 30, 2011
It's obvious from the concessions made by President Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats that they cannot make a reasonable case for their various positions on raising the debt ceiling. Mr. Obama keeps scolding his political opposition, demonizing Americans who already pay the lion's share of federal taxes and threatening our most vulnerable citizens with starvation and homelessness; but he and his Congressional accomplices can not explain why higher taxes, more borrowing and more government spending would improve the economic health of the country.

In his latest attempt to appear relevant in the debt ceiling negotiations, President Barack Obama took to the podium again this morning and declared that there are "plenty of ways out of this mess." As usual he offered no details on any of the ways that would supposedly escape his veto pen. Meanwhile, the dues of some hard working people are being used by their union bosses to help spread the president's lies, class warfare message and bogus threats against our most vulnerable citizens.

Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) debt reduction bill looks likely to pass in the House of Representatives today. Of course it still has to make it through the Senate and past President Barack Obama's oft-threatened veto so there's no victory for the Republicans and the nation yet. But there have already been significant defeats for Mr. Obama and the Democrats.
Many Americans Don't Know Who Is On Their Side
By Carole on Jul 26, 2011
Asked why President Barack Obama was making a primetime address on the debt crisis last night, a White House official said, "I guarantee you that 80% of the audience tonight has never seen more than a 10 second clip of the president talking about this." Need proof? A new poll out today shows 46% of Americans have more faith in the president to handle the debt issue while just 34% trust Congressional Republicans more, but of those same Americans surveyed, 45% don't want the debt ceiling raised at all fearing that would lead to higher government spending and make the national debt bigger.
