A Speech Is A Speech Not A Plan
By Carole on Aug 17, 2011
You can tell it's a slow summer news day when the top story is that President Barack Obama is going to make a speech. Even more redundant and meaningless, his speech is going to focus on jobs and won't occur until next month. According to a senior administration official, the speech will lay out new ideas for job growth and helping the poor and middle class. But to quote a spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), "We really don’t need another speech - just a plan, like, on paper."
A Priest, A Rabbi And A Stimulus Package Walk Into A Bar...
By Carole on Jan 27, 2010
Have you heard the one about the $787 billion stimulus bill that had to be passed to keep the unemployment rate below eight percent? Turns out the bill cost an additional $75 billion (for a total of $862 billion) mostly because unemployment benefits are costing more now that the unemployment rate is at ten percent. I really wish this was a joke but unfortunately, it's the bottom line in Tuesday's cost estimate of the Recovery Act by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office. (source)
No Surprise Dems Don't Have The Votes
By Carole on Nov 6, 2009
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Maryland) admitted today that Democrats don't have the 218 votes needed to pass the $1.2 trillion health care reform legislation commonly known as Obamacare. The vote was scheduled for Saturday but Democrats are now acknowledging it may be pushed back. (source) Why the delay? It seems many Democrats in the House aren't as stupid as their leadership thinks they are.
Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome
By Carole on Aug 24, 2009
In 2003 a political phenomenon emerged known as Bush Derangement Syndrome or BDS. The term was coined by conservative columnist and psychiatrist Charles Krauthammer who defined it as “the acute onset of paranoia in otherwise normal people in reaction to the policies, the presidency - nay - the very existence of George W. Bush." (source) Many expected that the next political syndrome to take hold would be one similar to BDS but affecting those who oppose the new president. Instead, most of the same people who suffered from BDS have been stricken with the even more dangerous Obama Defense Derangement Syndrome (ODDS). Apparently it is not the shift of power that results in derangement but rather the susceptibility of the same group of people, mainly liberal Democrats, to these types of syndromes. Do you or someone you know suffer from ODDS? Answer the following questions to find out now:
