A Pause For Political Poetry
By Carole on Mar 6, 2010
Here at TalkingSides.com we're taking a break from the rough and tumble world of American politics to remember one of the more genteel arts. So without further ado, we offer these snippets of lyrical verse:
There was an old lady named Nancy
Who rose to a job very fancy
But she pushed left too hard
And now we regard
Her future in DC as chancy.
Copenhagen Climate Summit: A Scientific Step Backwards
By Carole on Dec 6, 2009
In the ancient world emperors and kings would rely on superstitions and the lies of self-proclaimed prophets to determine how to appease vengeful gods that threatened their world. Always driven by the desire to retain their political power, leaders forced their own people to sacrifice (sometimes even sacrificing the people themselves) in the name of some unproven, nonsensical fantasy. In light of the unfolding Climategate scandal, the beginning of the climate change summit in Copenhagen tomorrow proves that not much has changed since those ancient rulers' time.
Has Climategate Killed Cap & Trade?
By Carole on Nov 28, 2009
The Obama administration's energy scam known as Cap & Trade is dead according to the top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee. Senator Jim Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) told reporters on Thursday that "Ninety-five percent of the nails were in the coffin prior to this week. Now they are all in." If Senator Inhofe is correct, what finally killed the legislation that would have allowed the government to force industrial businesses to purchase carbon emission credits, the cost of which would be passed on to consumers causing a backbreaking increase in energy costs for every American? Something called Climategate - a scandal of epic proportions which is getting barely a mention by the liberal media.
