Dems' Answer To Enthusiasm Gap: Throw Money At It
By Carole on Jun 21, 2010
According to a new Gallup poll, Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents are much more enthusiastic about voting in the upcoming mid-term elections than they have been in previous years while Democrats' enthusiasm has dwindled to a new low by comparison. Democrats Trying To Get Around Court Ruling
By Carole on Jan 25, 2010
Appearing on CBS' Face the Nation Sunday morning, Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) declared the campaign finance reform movement he led is dead. While his cause may have been noble, his and Senator Russ Feingold's (D-Wisconsin) attempt at reform created an unfair and unconstitutional restriction on free speech according to last week's Supreme Court ruling (Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission). In that ruling, the Court struck down a provision of the McCain-Feingold Act that prevented corporations and unions from spending freely in the final days of political campaigns. But the Democrats are already working on how they'll try to circumvent the high court's decision.

By Carole on Aug 1, 2009
Beginning late next week Congress will take its month-long recess, ostensibly to touch base with their constituents and do the non-Washington part of their jobs. In reality, most will be vacationing and/or fundraising. President Obama and his family will also be vacationing in scenic farm house on Martha's Vineyard for at least the last week of August. Of course all these folks deserve a vacation; it's awfully hard work doing whatever it is they do (no one's quite sure). But I highly doubt we the people will get any kind of break from them.
