Speaking to the graduating class of Virginia's Hampton University today, President Barack Obama took another opportunity to whine about the quantity of information available to Americans: "Some of the craziest claims can quickly claim traction," in the clamor of certain blogs and talk radio outlets. "All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy." (source) Let's examine a few of those crazy claims and exactly who is spreading them.
Surprise! Obamacare Will Drive Costs Up

Try to act surprised. A new report by economic experts at the Obama administration's own Health and Human Services Department says the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare) will increase the nation's health care costs instead of bringing them down. According to the analysis the law not only fails to control costs, the Medicare cuts it contains may be unrealistic and unsustainable, driving about 15% of hospitals into the red and "possibly jeopardizing access" to care for seniors. Surprise! Harold Ford Can Be Bullied

Former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford announced Monday evening that he will not challenge incumbent Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) in the upcoming Democratic primary. Just six weeks ago, the former Tennessee Congressman was putting together his campaign team and warning top Democrats that he couldn't be bullied. Evidently he could be.
Obamacare: Like It Or Not Here It Comes

The more the Democrats push their idea of health care reform, the more Americans push back against it. The latest Rasmussen poll shows that just 38% of voters now favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. Half of the poll was conducted after the Senate's Saturday night vote to bring the Obamacare bill to the floor for debate. Interestingly support for the plan was slightly lower in that half.
