Obama Betting On America To Make The Same Mistake Twice

The overall campaign slogan for President Barack Obama's re-election effort is Forward as in please don't look back at my record because I've failed miserably. His current two-day bus tour of northern Ohio and western Pennsylvania has a slogan too: Betting on America as in I'm betting I can get enough Americans to fall for empty promises and meaningless platitudes again in spite of my miserable record.

President Barack Obama opened his three-state bus tour today in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. After his all too familiar speech in which he blamed Japanese tsunamis, Arab springs and his political opposition for the failure of his own economic policies, he ended by saying "I'm here to enlist you in a fight. We are fighting for the future of our country and that is a fight that we are going to win. That is a promise that I make with your help." If, as his spokesmen claim this is not a campaign jaunt but a normal part of "doing what presidents do," then exactly who is our president fighting against?
America Needs More Than Gimmicks

In May of 1980 Mount St. Helens erupted, The Empire Strikes Back premiered, the arcade game Pac-Man was released and it was the last time US consumer confidence was as low as it is today. The Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan preliminary index of consumer sentiment was projected to dip slightly from 63.7 to 62 but it has plummeted to 54.9 - a level not seen since late in the term of President Jimmy Carter.
