Is Obama Indecisive? Well, Yes And No
By Carole on Feb 13, 2010 | Comment »
Last summer started months of what former Vice President Cheney called the Obama administration's dithering over troop levels in Afghanistan. The long delay before President Obama decided to send the additional troops requested by his hand-picked general frustrated many and sent the wrong message to our enemies. He showed a level of decisiveness compatible with that of, to paraphrase former Governor Sarah Palin, a law professor at the lectern not a commander-in-chief. With 24/7 news networks and a perpetually connected audience of news junkies, the American media often creates serious news stories out of minor occurrences when there is little else to fill their programming hours. In years past, the holiday season offered especially slim pickings for journalists, editors, commentators and anchors. This is not one of those years but you wouldn't know that from watching the broadcasts.

President Obama has already given the initial orders to put his new Afghanistan war strategy into effect and he has begun informing national and international leaders what that strategy will entail. The big speech tomorrow night from the US Military Academy at West Point will let the rest of us in on the plan but there are already loud complaints from both sides of the ideological aisle since the president seems to be playing politics with foreign policy and national security decisions.
