According to the newly released convention schedule, a speaker listed only as 'To Be Announced' will deliver his or her remarks to the delegates and a national television audience on Thursday night.

Vice President Joe Biden gave another speech and therefore made another inappropriate comment. Appearing at a Minneapolis campaign event yesterday, Mr. Biden referred to Republican critics of Obama administration policies as "squealing pigs" and that's the sound byte that's getting all the media attention. Rude, crass and uncivil as it is; it's not the part of that speech journalists should be highlighting for voters.

If there was any doubt that the presidential campaign is starting fresh with today's announcement that Congressman Paul Ryan (R-Wisconsin) will be presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney's running mate, one need only look at the results of a poll taken days ago. According to that CNN/ORC International survey, 27% of Americans have a favorable view of Mr. Ryan, 19% view him unfavorably and a whopping 54% say they don't know enough about Ryan to form an opinion.
