With just over 24 hours before the Iowa caucuses, Texas Governor Rick Perry's campaign has produced a blistering web video highlighting former Senator Rick Santorum's passion for pork and his history as a big government big spender. The 60 second spot also draws the comparison between Mr. Santorum and 2008's Candidate Barack Obama - both in favor of wasteful spending and neither with any executive experience - the ad describes them as too close for comfort.

Specifically featured are then-Senator Santorum's votes in favor of:
Millions of dollars to be spent on the bridge to nowhere
A teapot museum in North Carolina
A $50 million indoor rain forest in Iowa
Spending $597,000 on the Montana Sheep Institute
$5.18 million to build an intermodal center at the Philadelphia Zoo.
Additionally, the video reminds voters that Senator Santorum supported raising the debt ceiling 8 times allowing for a $4.8 trillion increase in the national debt. And all this support for all this unsustainable spending comes with the declaration from Mr. Santorum himself that he is proud of the earmarks he's put in bills and he defends earmarks.
As other GOP contenders have surged in the polls, most were brought back to earth when some facts in their records were revealed. There may not be enough time between Mr. Santorum's surge and tomorrow's caucuses for Iowans to learn about his penchant for wasteful government spending. But there's certainly enough time in the primary season.
