Is Chris Christie's Charisma Transferable?

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been getting involved in the 2012 presidential contest even after deciding not to compete for the GOP nomination himself. Recently he blasted President Barack Obama for standing by while the congressional super committee failed to reach a deal on debt reduction. Mr. Christie's "What the hell are we paying you for?" aimed at Mr. Obama made headlines and prompted plenty of cheers from Republicans nation wide, but is the positive effect of his blunt, honest, get to the heart of the matter "Jersey style" transferable to the candidate he has endorsed?

Shortly after declining to toss his own hat into the ring, Governor Christie announced his endorsement of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and now seems to be playing at least an informal role in the Romney campaign. In addition to the negative comments regarding President Obama's job performance, Mr. Christie is now speaking out against another GOP contender.
When asked about current frontrunner Newt Gingrich in Florida yesterday, Governor Christie said "Speaker Gingrich has never run anything. And he's been a legislator. I have to tell you, I don't think being a legislator is the best calling card. Look at the guy we have in the White House now. He never ran anything and was a legislator."
Comparing a fellow Republican to Barack Obama will most certainly inspire more headlines like the Chicago Tribune's 'Chris Christie steps up as Mitt Romney attack dog'. It will also prompt more speculation about a Romney/Christie ticket even though Governor Christie has said he thinks "someone else" would be the VP pick.
But Mr. Christie will keep on campaigning and most likely attacking on Governor Romney's behalf. In fact, he's scheduled to be in Polk County, Iowa on December 7th to speak to Romney supporters less than three weeks before the Iowa caucuses.
There's no doubt Governor Christie can fire up a crowd and energize the party faithful. But will his presence on the campaign trail help Mr. Romney win the nomination or just accentuate the difference between the charismatic leader who was begged to run and the man whose been running for over 5 years and still can't close the deal?
