Christie Speech A Lesson For GOP Contenders

Speaking at the Reagan Presidential Library tonight, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie delivered the kind of speech a Republican candidate for the presidency needs to deliver. He criticized President Barack Obama's job performance the way a perspective 2012 opponent should. When he summarized his own successful leadership tecniques it conjured up visions of that same kind of success from the next American president. And then he seemed to say that he's not running.

If he truly is absolutely and completely out (speculation persists that he may not be), his speech should serve as a tutorial for those who are absolutely and completely in. While the current crop of candidates are shouting about how they have fought for this or wll fight for that, Mr. Christie explained how he has already won battles. He gave an honest evaluation of the challenges we face and he offers a hopeful yet realistic glimpse at what the nation's future could be.
