Obama's Running Against Obama

Forget about whoever ends up winning the GOP nomination next year, Candidate Barack Obama has evidently decided that his 2012 opponent will be President Barack Obama. In two speeches this weekend Mr. Obama sought to fire up a large segment of his base and solicit campaign donations by attacking the last three years of abject failure over which he presided.

On Saturday, the president attended the annual awards dinner of the Congressional Black Caucus. While there, he responded to legitimate complaints about the 16.7 percent black unemployment rate with demands that those suffering under his leadership, "Stop complainin'. Stop grumblin'. Stop cryin'." and “Put on your marching shoes."
He acknowledged that "So many people are still hurting. So many people are barely hanging on," but then added the obvious reference to his political opposition that, "so many people in this city are fighting us every step of the way." Of course he is conveniently (or perhaps psychotically) forgetting that his political opposition had no power to fight him for the first two years of his administration when he did most of the damage.
With the House and Senate both comfortably controlled by his fellow Democrats, President Obama and his cronies passed the trillion dollar unsustainable Obamacare legislation and the 800 billion dollar non-stimulating stimulus bill. His administration has proposed over 200 new regulations which would put an even greater burden on those who create jobs. He has offered a 447 billion dollar "jobs bill" that is nothing more than a second stimulus with as much chance of success as the first and proposed one and a half trillion dollars in punative tax hikes on those who actually do stimulate the economy.
These are just some of the job-killing actions and threats that have fostered that 16.7 unemployment rate among African Americans and they were all devised, proposed and/or implemented by President Barack Obama and his Congressional cronies. So when they put on those marching shoes, exactly to where and for what are they supposed to march? Another four years of barely hanging on or worse?
On Sunday, President Obama attended the first of seven West Coast fundraisers over the course of two days. At the Seattle brunch, 65 guests paid $35,800 per couple to hear him once again blame others for his dismal record in office. "From the moment I took office what we've seen is a constant ideological pushback against any kind of sensible reforms that would make our economy work better and give people more opportunity." While there may have been attempts at pushing back, for two years his opposition was powerless to protect the nation from his policies and the consquences of them.
For those two years he and Congressional Democrats ignored anything moderately close to sensible; worsening an already shaky economy and virtually guaranteeing there would be no opportunities for anyone to prosper except for politically connected enterprises that provided very temporary green jobs and presidential photo ops in exchange for hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars (see Solyndra).
As with all things Obama, the president not only refuses to take responsibility for his own record of failure, he is desperately trying to blame it on others even though the facts are not on his side. As he often does when he needs to distract an audience from inconvenient truths, he is adopting a combative, sarcastic and belligerent tone which seems towork on friendly audiences of his supporters.
But with the country heading toward a double dip recession and people suffering even longer under Mr. Obama's brand of leadership, those friendly audiences are going to be harder and harder to find.
