First Lady Wants Pro-Military Movies?

For several decades Hollywood has been producing anti-military films which have been instrumental in brainwashing new generations of liberals. The Great Escape and The Green Berets were replaced by Coming Home and Born On The Fourth Of July as examples of the way the film industry represented those who serve. In 2007 a rash of anti-military films coincided with the political rise of Candidate Barack Obama, an outspoken critic of the war in Iraq. How ironic that now that he is the Commander In Chief, Mr. Obama's wife is trying to convince film industry leaders to improve the way military service members and their families are portrayed.

As a part of the Joining Forces initiative unveiled by the White House several weeks ago, First Lady Michelle Obama is in Los Angeles today to join a discussion with military family members and representatives of the Directors Guild of America, the Writers Guild of America and others to focus on ways to "inform and inspire" Hollywood creators regarding the military. For two and a half years of the Obama administration, there was silence from the White House as the anti-military films kept rolling. Currently in theaters Super 8 depicts the military characters as the enemy and in X-Men: First Class military characters need to be saved from their own incompetence by the protagonists.
Yet we are now to believe that the administration is interested in turning the cinematic tide? That suddenly negative depictions of our military bothers those who have profited (in both dollars and votes) from those depictions for years? Have the Obama’s really had a change of heart or is it the change in poll numbers that has them seeming to turn on some of their biggest supporters?
