West Virginia Governor and US Senate candidate Joe Manchin (D) is fighting back against charges leveled by his Republican opponent that he would be nothing more than a rubber stamp for the unpopular Obama agenda. In his new ad, the governor did not deny the accusations nor claim he would stand up against the president's policies in keeping with the wishes of voters. Instead he took a page from the Obama playbook and simply whined that he is being picked on by a political opponent who dares to tell the truth.

Late last week Republican John Raese's campaign released an ad detailing Mr. Manchin's support of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (also known as Obamacare), $400 billion in Medicare cuts and raising taxes. (view the ad)
In his response, Governor Manchin does not deny his support for those Obama agenda items and does not deny his close association with a president who has a dismal 34% approval rating in the state. (source) Instead, he stares into the camera and complains that, "John Raese is attacking me" and "Washington is filled with people like John Raese who tear others down."
Evidently Mr. Manchin's definition of 'tearing others down' extends to telling the truth. At the end of the 30-second spot Mr. Manchin claims, "John Raese's attacks drag us all down." Not true, Governor. They only drag down your chances of winning a seat in the US Senate and that's because they are true.
