Her much hyped victory in the Democratic Primary runoff behind her, Senator Blanche Lincoln (D-Arkansas) is being crushed by her general election Republican opponent according to the most recent poll. Representative John Boozman (R-Arkansas) is leading Senator Lincoln by a staggering 29 points (61% to 32% of likely voters) with just 3% still undecided. (source)

Why such low numbers for a two-term Senator? Senator Lincoln has spent the past 18 months betraying her constituents by supporting President Obama's agenda every chance she got. Most notably, she strongly supported the $800+ billion non-stimulating stimulus bill and she was the 60th and deciding vote to keep Obamacare alive during the best last chance to kill the bill.
Mr. Boozman has correctly labeled Ms. Lincoln an "Obama liberal" which doesn't bode well for any candidate in a state where voters opposed Obamacare even more strongly than those in the rest of the country. (source)
Representative Boozman, an optometrist and a member of the Doctors Caucus, voted against the health care bill in the House issuing a statement much more in keeping with the opinion of Arkansas voters, "I am for health care reform, unfortunately, this bill does more harm than good. The American people deserve health care reform that gives them access to quality and affordable health care and allows them to make decisions that are best for the care they need. Instead of increasing taxes, entitlement programs and red tape to reform health care we need to let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines; allow small businesses to pool together to buy health insurance at lower prices and end lawsuits that contribute to escalating costs because of doctors being forced to practice defensive medicine." Asked in a recent interview about the possibility of President Obama campaigning for his opponent, Mr. Boozman said, "I would love for him to come to Arkansas and campaign for Senator Lincoln because the people of Arkansas have rejected his policies, like the people of America." (source) The numbers certainly back that up.
