Has Obama Already Doomed Sestak's Campaign?

After defeating five-term Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pennsylvania) in the Democratic primary last night, US Representative Joe Sestak (D-Pennsylvania) received a call from President Barack Obama. In addition to the standard congratulatory words, Mr. Sestak said the president told him, "I'm there for you and I look forward to working with you and getting you in the United States Senate." Mr. Sestak may want to consult with Creigh Deeds of Virginia, Jon Corzine of New Jersey, Martha Coakley of Massachusetts and now Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania - the four losing Democratic candidates that President Obama was "there for".
But Presidential participation in the Sestak campaign sounds like very good news for the easy winner of last night's Republican primary, former US Representative and businessman Pat Toomey. Speaking about the upcoming race Mr. Toomey said, "It's going to be a very clear choice between the extreme one-party rule in Washington that we have today that has resulted in the biggest deficits in the history of the world and someone who wants to provide some checks and balances."
Considering President Obama is largely responsible for those deficits and is the de facto leader of that extreme one-party rule in Washington, his help on the Sestak campaign may be a great asset...for the Toomey campaign.
