The Obamacare Bait And Switch Has Begun

President Obama and his Democratic machine has spent the last few months forcing their idea of health care reform through the legislative process. Two of the major selling points used again and again were coverage for those with pre-existing conditions and the guarantee that sick children would be covered almost immediately by the new law. Just two days after the president signed his monstrous health care overhaul into law, we find out he was not even telling the truth about that. (source)

Last Friday in a speech at George Mason University in Virginia, Mr. Obama said of the pending bill, "This is a patient's bill of rights on steroids. Starting this year, thousands of uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions will be able to purchase health insurance, some for the very first time. Starting this year, insurance companies will be banned forever from denying coverage to children with pre-existing conditions."
Lest anyone think that was a momentary lapse in memory or an innocent mis-statement, the next day the president addressed House Democrats saying, "This year...parents who are worried about getting coverage for their children with pre-existing conditions now are assured that insurance companies have to give them coverage - this year."
But according to a spokeswoman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the main congressional panels that wrote the bill, insurance companies would still be able to refuse new coverage to children because of a pre-existing medical problem. And a spokeswoman for the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, another panel that authored the legislation, said full protection for children would not come until 2014.
There is no doubt those spokeswomen are correct and President Obama's statements were 100% false. Late Tuesday, the administration admitted as much when Health and Human Services spokesman Nick Papas issued the following statement: "To ensure that there is no ambiguity on this point, the secretary of HHS is preparing to issue regulations next month making it clear that the term 'pre-existing exclusion' applies to both a child's access to a plan and his or her benefits once he or she is in the plan for all plans newly sold in this country six months from today,"
So as the Obamacare lies are exposed, the president and his accomplices will simply blurt out bytes of legalese and promise even more regulations to fix what was supposed to be the comprehensive solution to the country's health care woes. I have no doubt the Obama machine will make the necessary regulatory changes/additions to cover children in these situations sooner than 2014. But I also have no doubt the "fix" will add considerably to the overall cost of the new law and I don't believe this is the only change/addition/price increase that will be implemented in the very near future.
Out here in the real world, this sales technique is called a bait & switch and it's illegal. But in the Obama administration it's Chicago-style business as usual.
