Obama Pushes His Approval Rating Lower

The more President Obama pushes his hugely unpopular and obscenely expensive version of health care reform, the lower his approval rating goes. Over the past few days he continued his charmless offensive - traveling to Ohio to deliver the same old stump speech in front of another friendly crowd and granting a brief interview to Fox News at which he seemed uncomfortable and ill prepared to face real questions on the bill. So what was the result of his latest efforts?

According to a new poll, only 43% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance and 56% disapprove. (source)
Meanwhile thousands of Americans are showing their disapproval up close and personal. As I type this Senate Park is filling with thousands of protesters for a "Code Red" rally outside the Capitol.
Among those speaking against Obamacare at the rally will be Academy Award-winning actor Jon Voight who recently said of the fight over health care reform legislation, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) "will stop at nothing to fulfill her corrupt conquests. She will bring all of the corrupt ACORN liars to try to bully all the Democrats that may be having pangs of guilt knowing quite surely what their votes can and will do. If they're bullied into saying 'yes,' it will destroy America." (source)
The protesters plan a candlelight vigil around the Capitol on Saturday night but don't expect the same kind of wall-to-wall coverage the mainstream media gave to protests against former President Bush's policies just a few years ago. If they gave the speeches at today's rally the same kind of exposure that the Jane Fondas and Susan Sarandons received then, President Obama's 43% somewhat approval rating would drop even further.
