Has Reid Planted A Tea Party Imposter?

Questions are beginning to swirl around Tea Party Candidate Jon Scott Ashjian and his campaign for the senate seat currently held by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada). Nevada Republicans are expressing concern that Mr. Ashjian was put in the race by agents of Senator Reid to steal votes from the GOP and improve the currently dim chances of a Reid re-election.

Republican Danny Tarkanian recently expressed more than concern saying, "No doubt about it. Nobody in the Tea Party knows who he is. He didn't know any of the principles of the Tea Party." Tarkanian goes on to accuse Harry Reid's staff of picking Ashjian because he's Armenian, as is Tarkanian because, "They know the Armenians are very close they'll vote for each other." (source)
The front-runner in the upcoming Republican primary race, Sue Lowden, claims to be a "Tea Party voter" who finds Ashjian's sudden appearance on the Nevada political stage "a little strange". According to Ms. Lowden "[Ashjian's] never been involved with anything that I'm aware of in this state...I've never seen him at one of our tea parties." (source)
Mr. Ashjian has never attended Tea Party rallies nor coordinated with local organizers. He helped form the Tea Party of Nevada just to run for this seat and the secretary of his Tea Party of Nevada, Barry Levinson, is a registered Democrat. Senator Reid claims he's never met Ashjian or "anyone in his family" but that doesn't necessarily mean his supporters have not had something to do with this potential spoiler.
Here's hoping the voters of Nevada get all the facts before casting their votes for a true conservative candidate and not a Democrat in Tea Party costume.
