Redeeming Bush

In a recent interview Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) was asked about various potential GOP presidential candidates in 2012. One of them was former Florida Governor Jeb Bush about whom the senator said, ""He would be a great president. He'd probably be the best on the list, if he didn't have the Bush name. It may not work in 2012, although the longer Obama is in office the better the Bush name looks." (source)

That statement rings true beyond consideration of the 2012 election or the former president's family members. As the din of hysterical far left critics during the Bush administration fades from our collective memories, the comparison to the inept and ineffective governing by the Obama administration comes into focus and the better the Bush name looks.
Yesterday the people of Iraq participated in their second national election since the US-led invasion in 2003. Millions voted in what even President Obama had to say was "an important milestone" that "makes it clear that the future of Iraq belongs to the people of Iraq." (source) Despite the fact that as a US Senator and presidential candidate Mr. Obama was a staunch opponent of the war, he acknowledged the vote was "a tribute to all who have served and sacrificed in Iraq over the last seven years." But he just couldn't bring himself to acknowledge the Commander-In-Chief who made the liberation of Iraq possible nor could he admit how wrong he was for opposing the wildly successful Bush-ordered military surge in that country.
Several weeks ago a billboard displaying a photo of former president Bush asked the question 'Miss me yet?'. The more President Obama pushes his far left agenda against the will of the people and the more his policies fail as those of former President Bush show tangible positive results, the more Americans will answer that billboard's question with a resounding yes. And, as Senator DeMint said, the better the Bush name looks.
