A Big Bad Day For Harry Reid

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) started the day the way he has for months; as one of the driving forces pushing the hugely unpopular and obscenely expensive Obamacare bill through the legislative process. Then he took a break to address the issue that the American people actually care about: jobs. That should have made his day a little brighter, right? Not exactly.

Speaking on the Senate floor, Mr. Reid addressed the just-released Labor Department report that the unemployment rate was still at 9.7 percent in February and employers shed 36,000 more jobs during that month by saying, "Today is a big day in America. Only 36,000 people lost their jobs today which is really good."
Don't believe me? Listen for yourself:
You might think that after making such an offensive statement, Mr. Reid could take off for the weekend knowing this day was as bad as it was going to get for his political career. But no. A new poll was just released showing that both of his Republican challengers have double-digit leads in Senator Reid's race for re-election.
Former Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party Sue Lowden has a 51% to 38% lead over the incumbent and businessman Danny Tarkanian's lead is 50% to 37%. Last month's polls showed the races a bit tighter - 45% to 39% versus Ms. Lowden and 47% to 39% versus Mr. Tarkanian. (source)
To paraphrase the Democrats' leader in the Senate, today is a big day in Harry Reid's political career...which is really bad...for him.
