Did Obama Offer Sestak A Bribe?

On a Philadelphia news program yesterday, Representative Joe Sestak (D-Pennsylvania) said the Obama administration offered him a high-ranking federal job if he would drop his primary challenge to Senator Arlen Specter (D-Pennsylvania). Mr. Sestak refused to elaborate and seemed chagrined after blurting out "yes" to program host Larry Kane's direct question. "Was it secretary of the Navy?" Mr. Kane asked the retired US Navy Rear Admiral. "No comment," Mr. Sestak said and then added he would never leave the Senate race for a deal. (source)

After taping the program, Representative Sestak added the detail that the offer came in July as he prepared to formally announce his Senate candidacy. The White House "vociferously" denies the accusation and an official told reporters that Representative Sestak is expected to "clarify" the allegation. Mr. Sestak's campaign office said the Pennsylvania Democrat "stands by his statement." (source)
Just a game of he said/he said with no way to figure out which side is telling the truth? Not quite. President Obama and his operatives have a proven track record of this kind of behavior:
At the same time Representative Sestak claims he was offered a bribe to drop out of his race so the President's choice could have a better chance of winning his primary, President Obama persuaded Representative Steve Israel not to challenge Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) in the New York primary. Harold Ford, who is considering entering that primary race has warned the White House not to bully him. (source)
In September, President Obama sent a request to New York Governor David Paterson (D) that he withdraw from his bid for re-election in the New York governor's race. The president favors New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to be the Democrats' candidate and with Governor Paterson out of the way, Mr. Cuomo would have a clear shot at the nomination. (source)
And let's not forget current Secretary of the Army John McHugh, a Republican who President Obama bribed away from his Congressional seat representing New York's 23rd District with the high-ranking position he now holds. Secretary McHugh's former seat was subsequently won in a special election by the administration's choice, Bill Owens (D-New York).
Turns out it's not as much of a he said/he said when one of the he's has a history of this type of bribery and interference in state government. Evidently the Obama administration is against states' rights in more than just legislative instances. Apparently they believe they have the right to meddle in individual state's elections and use the power of the federal government to intimidate and/or bribe as they deem necessary for their own political gains.
