Evidently We Need Better Expecters

An article from Reuters this morning claimed "The number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment insurance unexpectedly surged last week" (source) which begs the question exactly who's doing the expecting? Anyone living outside the government bubble and the ivory towers of academia knows that the job market is not improving and the recovery that President Obama is constantly bragging about has not reached the working (or suddenly not working) class of America.

Each month the administration and its so-called experts act surprised that our economy is still hemorrhaging jobs. That Reuters article also claims that "analysts fear" the February unemployment report due early next month "could disappoint". Evidently those analysts bought into the Obama "hope and change" plan wherein you hope that things will change but they don't because it takes more than hope to save and create sustainable jobs. All that baseless hope can lead to some major disappointment if you're an analyst. It leads to much worse if you're an American who loses their job and can't find another one. Or if you're a business owner forced to cut jobs to stay in business because all those unemployed Americans can no longer afford to buy your goods or services.
Yes this simple economic reality is lost on the Obama administration. They continue to talk about Wall Street vs. Main Street as if big business, small business and workers were at cross purposes. In fact they are connected in a mutually beneficial way and it is government that is seeking to play them against each other to justify their own power grabs.
In other financial news today, the Associated Press tells us that although wholesale prices shot up at double the expected pace in January, the surprisingly large jump was viewed as a temporary blip and not the start of inflation problems. (source) More expecters getting surprised yet they keep on hoping things will change.
It's time the news organizations stop giving President Obama and his Congressional cronies the protection of words like unexpected and surprised. Just report the numbers that reflect what their alleged leadership is doing to American workers and their families. We don't need anymore false hope that change will magically appear.
