In another new poll, this one by The Des Moines Register, one third of Iowans say they support the Tea Party movement which advocates smaller government and fiscal control. The poll also found that Independents account for nearly half of tea party supporters, Republicans represent a third, and Democrats 17 percent. (source)
This political diversity, especially in the mid-term battleground state of Iowa, shows the movement is not some fringe off-shoot of the GOP as many (especially in the liberal media) claim it is. In reality, it is made up of Americans from all across the ideological spectrum who have had enough of government takeovers and tax & spend policies. It is definitely time for the political establishment to listen to what they have to say.
