Oh We Get It, Mr. President

For the past year President Obama and his Congressional accomplices have increased government spending by trillions of dollars, tried to increase it by trillions more and through it all proudly acknowledged their ability to spend the taxpayers' money at will. Now after losing their filibuster-proof majority in the Senate and therefore the ability to pass virtually any spending measure they want, things are changing. No, they won't stop trying to spend our money on their job killing, deficit raising pet projects. But they will change what they say while they're doing it. If the president has his way, the American taxpayers are still going to get screwed but evidently now he'll take more time explaining why.

In an interview with ABC News the day after losing that supermajority in the Senate, Mr. Obama didn't admit his mistake of trying to force a tax and spend, far-left agenda on the country. Instead he claimed his error was thinking the American people were smart enough to agree with his tax and spend far-left agenda. "That I do think is a mistake of mine," he said. "I think the assumption was if I just focus on policy, if I just focus on this provision or that law or if we're making a good rational decision here, then people will get it." (source) Even now in the face of an overwhelming political defeat in Massachusetts, the arrogance and contempt for the people he has sworn to serve shines through.
And while the president was insulting the intelligence of the American people and totally disregarding their will, his fellow Democrats in the Senate proposed allowing the federal government to borrow an additional $1.9 trillion to pay its bills. This record increase would permit the national debt to reach $14.3 trillion and is required because the budget deficit has spiraled out of control in the wake of decreased tax revenues, bailouts, and increased spending by the Democratic-controlled Congress. Yet Mr. Obama insists it is the American people who just don't get it. Oh we get it, Mr. President. We just don't want it.
