Beginning To Correct The Obama Mistake

The recent Washington Post headline says it all "Poll shows growing disappointment, polarization over Obama's performance". Exactly one year after he took office, the majority of the American people say President Obama is not delivering on his major campaign promises and over a third say he is falling short of their expectations. (source) This is not a sign of a fickle electorate. This is what happens when millions of people are conned by someone who has no idea how to do the job he has sworn to do.

In response to the disappointment and disillusionment from former Obama supporters comes phrases like "people expected too much" and "progress takes time". But the fact remains, Obama promised more than he could deliver and he promised it would be delivered quickly. He would never have been elected - never even received his party's nomination - unless he instilled a sense of false hope that he would quickly change the lives of those who voted for him for the better.
Instead he has threatened businesses of all sizes with crippling new taxes forcing them into protectionist mode and causing them to cut hundreds of thousands of jobs. He has proposed sweeping legislation such as health care reform and cap & trade which would burden Americans with higher costs and more government interference in their lives. He has saddled the nation with debt we have virtually no hope of paying - robbing future generations of Americans of their chance at the American dream - just to reward liberal special interests with billions of taxpayer dollars. He has made our nation less safe by providing civilian trials and Miranda rights to admitted terrorists. And he has weakened our standing in the world with his "Blame America First" brand of foreign policy and his "Apologize for America" tours.
Today the voters in Massachusetts, like those in New Jersey and Virginia a few months ago, will turn against President Obama's policies and broken promises at the ballot box. Regardless of the outcome, the disappointment of many former Obama voters will be evident in the tally. Of course his die hard supporters will do what got us all into this mess in the first place: blame others. They will blame former President George W. Bush 3 years after Democrats took control of Congress and a year after Mr. Obama took the White House. They will blame Fox News Channel when virtually all other media outlets have been brazenly covering for this administration's incompetence since the day they helped get him elected. They will blame the candidate they themselves chose in Massachusetts the same way they blamed their own choice in Virginia.
And they will blame the American people for expecting what they were promised and beginning to correct that mistake.
