If anyone still hoped the Kennedy mystique might help Democratic Candidate Martha Coakley win Ted Kennedy's Senate seat , that hope was washed away when the late Senator's son, Representative Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), kept calling her Marcia instead of Martha while telling reporters what a great Senator she'd be.

"Some work needs to be done," Mr. Kennedy said at a Coakley rally that featured a speech by President Barack Obama, "and this president's in the process of doing it and we need to get Marcia Coakley to help him to do that." (source)
His inability to remember the candidate's name is just the latest indication that everything Democrats are doing on behalf of Ms. Coakley's campaign is actually on behalf of the president; not the candidate and certainly not the state of Massachusetts. The out of state politicians who have rushed to the desperate Ms. Coakley's aid have, literally, no idea who she is.
Meanwhile Republican Candidate Scott Brown held a competing rally that featured dignitaries who actually know Massachusetts, know the name of the candidate they support and know something about victory. Former Red Sox ace Curt Schilling and former Boston College and NFL quarterback Doug Flutie were in attendance and likened the feeling at the rally to that of a locker room before a team goes out to win a championship, "This feels to me like a clubhouse on the morning of Game 7," said Schilling. It feels that way to a lot of us, Mr. Schilling.
